    Quick diagonisis please???

Well, most aquarium heaters have a little thermoswitch built in, so I doubt he's actually heating- heater won't kick on in a warm res.

Evap cooling will generally keep res a few degrees cooler than ambient.

I'd prob be cooling the room enough to keep res ~70F-, but if that wasn't an option, then yeah, I'd be cooling the res.

Grab a floating thermometer from the pet store and drop it into the res- easy enough to know for sure.
I assume you understand that we have options on your time,
And we will ditch you in the harbour if we must-
But if it all works out nicely,
You\'ll get the bonus you deserve
    From doctors we trust.

Ok, I found the right link. Home you got too many threads hopping around. Stinky and Rhyzome are right about the water issue but you mentioned in your other thread that your e.c. got up to 2.2 one day.....I think you burned them at that point and what you are seeing may be the end result of that. There were too many posts for me to figure out exactly about your lighting and feeding schedule.....you don't measure ppms' I assume....just ec?

I will have to use the bug bomb because I'm looking closely at one of those pix of the underside of the leaves and I can see lots of tiny black dots.

I now think, with the help of everyone, that I have a combination of problems.

    1. Bugs
    2. Over fert

for sure. And Yes I am using Hydroton clay

    Cheers

I don't have a thermometer for my rez atm, i shall invest in one... I will remove it as stinky said, but the reason I added it was because I put my hand in and thought it was cold... maye it was ok all along?

I have only started a few threads. As I was uncertain as to how many people read my Grow thread so I wasn't sure if I'd have gotten the help I needed without starting a 2nd and 3rd thread... I'll try and keep the thread starting to a minimum.

That's right. The EC had worked its way up to 2.2 at one point.. I remedied it by partial flush if I recall correctly... It could have been a ful flush, I'll have to check my diary.... So I'm now seeing the after effects? Makes sense... the deep deep green leaves and tip burn that spreaded is a tell tail sign of over nute...

    I'm still flushing...

So what about the bugs? Would the bugs have caused the leaves to look like that aslo? I don't have any magnification equipment so I'm a little stuck there..

And if anyone can further comment on my brown roots, that too would be welcomed..

    cheers

    Quick diagonisis please???

I've just looked back through my Gro diary and can confirm that on the 26th June I found the readings off the scale...

    pH/EC=6.5/2.2

Resolved with partial reservoir flush and topped off with water. Resultant readings...

    pH/EC=1.5/5.7

But after running the system to check all was working, I accidentally left the res pump off for 2 days before noticing...

I've been runing with pH'd water since 28/06

And what are your general numbers now day to day? I've burned my plants (say not so ) and the ph will usually tell me where I am at with that process....it will rise, stay high for a while, then slowly start to return to normal as the plants recover... (yep, done it more than once too ) That strikes me as more logical than heat because your burns are very uniform on all your leaves.

As for your insect problems I'm very VERY sure Rhizome and Stinky can answer your q's on that better than I can.

    Good luck.
