I think your temperature is too high to begin with- see the upwards curl?
And that can easily complicate a nutrient problem.
Does your medium dry out completely between flood cycles, or stay a bit moist?

Could it be that my reservoir temp is too high? I have an aquarium heater in it on its lowest setting....

I don't know why I'd have a temp problem in the garden. I have the lights on during the night.

I've noticed that the burn discoloration is visible on plants that are not in the hydro system (there are other potted plants of similar strain also in the room).

Errrr, the medium is a 1inch rockwool cube and pebbles. the floods a 2 or 3 hours apart. and yes all seems pretty dry between floods.

I've had the Dr in and spider mites and other tiny bugs are visible on some of the leaf undersides. I will try and take a close up pic shortly.

Hope the additional info helps stinky and thanks for ur gro support

Okey dokey, I'm not the hydro guru here but reservoir temps are important. I'd scoot over to 'hydro' and poke around to see what others are running their res at. I know that reservoir COOLING is quite common. Personally I would ditch the aquarium heater entirely if you find that your room temp is acceptable. The only time I would heat a res is if it is sitting on a very cold concrete floor, or your air temps stay too low at 'night'.

So what is your maximum sustained temp during lights on?
And your minimum at 'night'? (the difference between these is important)

And the bugs... time to bomb. Try the Raid pyrethroid bomb. Set one off, wait 3 days, set another off to kill stragglers, then mist leaves lightly with neem to prevent reinfestation.

Also, what type of pebbles are you using? Hydroton? With the 1-inch cubes in hydroton, you may very well be drying out TOO much between floods. Why don't you try adding another flood cycle to your 'lights on' time?

I heat a res if under 67F, and cool if over 73F.

    But I'm kinda anal
I assume you understand that we have options on your time,
And we will ditch you in the harbour if we must-
But if it all works out nicely,
You\'ll get the bonus you deserve
    From doctors we trust.

So rhizome, looking at the temps that most people are running indoors in summertime, you would certainly be cooling?
