Does drying/curing need constant attention ?

By constant I mean, do I have to actually be there ?

I'm planning to harvest in 2 weeks, and leave them to dry for another week/10days.. but after that I'll be gone for 45days. Is it safe if I just put them in jars until I return ?

I was thinking some kind of a tapperware with a really small hole (done with a needle) to let air in.. but that's based on nothing I've heard of.. will it work ?

I really don't want to take the harvest with me, because well.. it's risky, and if I make it I'll probably end up smoking it before it's well dried :stoned:

    Any ideas ?

Should be cool, just leave plenty of extra room in the containers and drill a few small holes.

    Aight! That sounds doable!

Why the extra room btw ?

You want some air present to aid in the curing process, really the buds still got a bit of life left in em' despite the fact that they have little water left. Theres a few different chemicals in the buds that are inactive, and with proper curing they become the active chemicals that we love so much. Fresh air helps them convert these chemicals for us. But too much air will make your bud go stale, so dont put too many of very big holes in your containers, just something to allow some air exchange.

i wouldnt say that you can cure w/out being there. you will most likely come back to mold or a terrible amonia smell. the holes will help and it is curing it somewhat, but not the same thing. i dont have any suggestions for you but i wouldnt do it. deffinately not a jar if you cant be there to check on it. sorry no help here. maybe the freezer? which i wouldnt really do either.

Stick them in brown envelopes and leave them, they'll be fine. Longer the better.

...if the buds are truely dried going into the jars...they should be OK.

although ..it would be nice if someone could burp the jars once in awhile. Air(oxygen), heat and light degrades THC...plastic is not an oxygen barrier..thus the reason for air tight jars....(burp= means letting built up gases out every few days)...store in a cool, dark place....enjoy.......
