Hey dudes,
I'm currently on my second grow and things are going pretty well. (see photos) I've read alot of threads on this site that relate to getting started, so here are some of my top tips.
1) Watering - home made system that uses 2 plastis storage boxes, 1 inside the other and a cheap aquarium pump. Cost $20
2) Lighting - stole my light from work, (industrial plant) 250w HPS. Have a look round your local area. Most commercial outdoor lighting is suitable for growing, so use your imagination. (use gloves and rubber handle wire cutters to avoid electricution) Failing this, 400 & 600w sets go on ebay for as little as $80 new.
3) Temp - use a very basic electric heater with built in thermostat. This only runs when lights are off. OK for small areas, but expensive for large rooms. I have used bed sheets to cut down the grow space in my room. Cost $15
4) Co2 - there are lots of methods to produce Co2 (see related threads), but a really easy way that I've been experimenting with is simply to use carbonated water + nutrient for watering. This has certainly boosted the grow rate. Cost 10c per
5) Books - see Ed Rosenthal, he has alot of excellent un-complex advice.
Hope this has been of some help. <GG>GreenGuitar Reviewed by GreenGuitar on . Good results so far Hey dudes, I'm currently on my second grow and things are going pretty well. No, it uses a pump. Really simple! Just use the bottom tank as a reservoir and then pump water up and through the delivery pipe. I drilled some small holes in the pipe about 10cm apart to get a good even watering. Also in the bottom of the root tank there is a thin layer of loft insulation. This filters out any solids so as to keep the pump clean.

Cheers mate, the whole rig with 2 grow pots cost around $150. Only using a 250w HPS til I can afford a 600w, but still harvesting minimum 7-8oz from 2 plants. For this grow I've borrowed a 150w from a friend which I'm using to side light the lower branches. This should boost the yield at bit more. Have you got any suggestions?

The firm I work for made 1.2 billion profit last year. They can afford to loose a light or 10.
