I believe there is no god, and that is the only faith I need, faith in myself. I will respect your belief in god/s as long as you respect my belief that there is no god/s. Why do people feel the need to preach?

You have just made on of the best points I have ever heard about religon. What you say is true most people worship in fear instead of faith. I feel that I'm in that boat to a certain degree. I have a FEAR that my faith isn't strong enough tp please the alimighty! damn that was a good point though

Most worship out of fear; a fear of the unknown. I say relish in mystery, only then will you open the doors of perception and you will embrace a whole new world of creativity; a whole new religion, so to speak--a brave new world.

I don't really believe that but it still stands that I am not sacrificing my lifestyle out of my own volition to be with God. The way I see it is I am already in Hell, and in Hell I will remain until I am pure enough to pass through the gates of Heaven. When will that be, you ask? Oh, until the constitutional intelligence of my name displays true purity, and that wont be for many generations to come.

Just read the bible and your questions will be answered in some way or another. Many argue the concept of God but rarely gather the facts, which have been recorded in every Christian bible in the known universe. Even I have grown tired of ignorant debates about God's existence. So, needless to say, the spirituality forum is lame.

I think most worship out of conformity. Whatever community you were born into you will likely conform to the native religion. If you dont you can be isolated or in some cases even stoned ect. Fear is definetly a common tactic in religion. I hypothesize based on my dealings with many religious people that many dont really buy it but they conform because its much easier than chalenging their families and the majority.

Yeah. You're put in the limelight if you refuse to conform, and quite frankly a lot of people cannot handle that kind of scrutiny or social "exile", which just adds to the hypocrisy of religion. I don't care what religion you believe in, you do not push people away because they do not agree with you.

neither... none can actually be proved... it's ignorant to be close minded to the possiblity you may be wrong... which i never said you were.... but christians in general are....

By definition they must be, if Christianity is untrue. Which, of course, it is. I'm open-minded to the possibility that I might be wrong, but I consider it extremely unlikely that I am. I am also open-minded to the possibility that I might be wrong about the round earth theory. If I get on a rocketship and go into space and see a flat earth, I'll have to change my mind.
