    Hi all,

can somebody please tell me kwh of 1 cfl grow light? (you would a need plug-in energy meter), preferable the 125w or 200w envirolites or other similer cfl with high lumen output (12000 for 125w envirolite). i tested (1hour usage) a energy efficient household 100w cfl (through a lamp) and got a reading of 0.02kwh how does the envirolites or other compact fluorescent lamps compare?

kwh is kilowatt hours. to figure that out, multiply watts by the hours that it's running, then divide by 1000. So if you run a 100-watt CFL for 18 hours a day for 120 days, that's 100 x 18 x 120 = 216,000 watt hours = 216 kwh

^ So, 216 kwh used over the course of 3 months. Multiply 216 times your local rate (example: $0.10 per kwh) = $21.60 for three months use of a 100 watt bulb, so about $7 more per month for one 100watt bulb. Is that math correct?

Make sure you are following the correct wattage. If it's a CFL, it might be a 23 watt bulb that is equivalent to a 100 watt incandescent, but draws 25% of the power.

Be cool. Be safe. Post pics. LOL
