Anyway...

Tube flouros are good for veg. Great, in fact, and I like them a lot. The BOG even recommends them as your veg light in his book. And he knows his shit.

I personally keep a 4-foot T12 shop light for my clones, and a 24" T5 fixture for seedlings.

The T12 tube fixture I got at home depot for $25, plus the bulbs- get the cool white or kitchen and bath ones, NOT the plant /aquarium lights!!!

I vegged happily for a couple years under ONLY these lights. The trick is keeping the plants short and squat. You want good indica genetics and a pinch after the 5th node.

I bought some big halides because now I keep tall mothers, but the shop lights are great.

If you look for 'Demeter's Garden of Delight', she vegges under 2 shop lights with a total of 4 bulbs, which works BEAUTIFULLY. They don't throw much heat, which is a bonus.

I've tried CFLs and can't stand fucking wiht them. They are very hot. T12s don't burn the leaves if the plant touches them, while CFLs do. Just keep the tubes less than 2" fro the top of the plant and you will be fine.
