CRAP! I voted wrong. I want to leave post count.
It is important in some forums like growing and drug testing to see if people know what they are talking about or if someone justs comes by once in a while and doesn't really know how to grow weed or pass a drug test. I spend a lot of time correcting misinformation in the drug testing forum and it is helpful to people to see who has experience. If anyone has been in the drug testing forum you will see me arguing with people about niacin all the time. For like the 50th time that was a myth started by L Ron Hubbard the father of scientology which makes you pay to join their religion and gave us couch jumping Tom Cruise who also thought niacin was going to cure Brooke Shield of her postpartum depression. It is helpful when I have to argue with a newcomer who hears this myth and thinks he has discovered the wheel and posts it. I still have to argue with veterans but science is on my side there. I am sure that goes on in the grow forum as I don't post there because I don't know anything about growing. I'm sure there are other times when you would like to look at a member's post count to help gauge whether they know what they are talking about like recipes, vaporizing, who knows what else. It's a good thing.
Here's another example. Before Birdgirl became a mod, how many people asked her for advice and you could tell well maybe she knows what she is talking about because of the post count. Not the only factor but probably one factor for some people.
Damnit I need my vote reversed! Sundance leave the count!

like rep, country and join date it is merely a bit of trivia about the member. though relatively meaningless, they do give clues about the personality behind the screen name.
for instance:
someone who joined three weeks ago and has 5,000 post most likely has little to say, but insists on endlessly repeating it.
or
someone who is obviously from the us and insists on flying the flag of another country undoubtedly has sever mental problems and should seek professional help immediately.

LOL....giving props to CC also!:thumbsup:Originally Posted by cannabis campbell
It also comes as a nice moderating tool. When there is "trouble" we can easily see if the member is long standing or just here for a few posts and alot of bitching.
Have a good one!

yeah fuck that... i worked hard and long for my post count... getting 10k posts was always a goal of mine... it don't mean everything, but it does show alot...
and as P4B already put it, it is a moderating tool.... very easy to single out the shit starters and just those people with strong opinions very easily...
either way i say fuck that.... and if it really does bother you, why even pay attention to it? one way or another.. i've seen a few people here complain about people who put pride in their high post count... if it doesn't bother you, it shouldn't bother you either way... you getting 'irritated' by it only shows jealousy![]()
