    Working in a commercial greenhouse

Just out of curiosity, how many of us grow geeks have ever made LEGAL income off our skills?
Who has worked at a greenhouse, nursery, or farm?

I've worked at a farm (cucumbers, blech, I still have scarring on my forearms from cuke rash, we LOOOVE our Polish dill pickles around here, yummy!) and at a hydroponic greenhouse.
I am really starting to seriously consider going back to school for a masters in horticulture and getting back into all that shit.

    Anyone else?

I plan on going to college for botany so I can make a living working with plants, as that's what I enjoy. I'd prefer to live my life working with cannabis, so I plan to relocate to a place where I can get employed tending to cannabis plants, perhaps at a seed company.

Had a landscaping business for 15 years. When I sold it I spent 3 years working at the nursery at Home Depot. There are a lot of unemployed botanist in this world! LOL

Green house might be ok, but I love the outdoors. A farm might be nice but I'm getting a little long in the tooth for all that hard labor involved in farming. I have enough trouble tending my little vegie patch

use to work in a nursery back home......we would smoke waaaaay in the back where all the plants are cloned/started.......happy times
I am a pathalogical liar. Nothing I say is real, I only do it out of attention seeking motives. Well, that what the doctor said. I take medication for it......:S1: Or do I?

Started off in college wanting to get into plant science/phytoremediation (using plants to clean up soil from say mine damage, or even radiation) but chemistry and me don't get along when you get up out of general chemistry.

Then life happened and oh well thats another story.

years too many in fact i started at about 13 my family business delt with plants.

my grandpa had a store that sold indoor and outdoor plants, he also rented out ficus trees in nice white pots for weddings, graduations, party's, ect ect

then my grandma had her own plant business where she would sell or lease indoor plants to restaurant's, doctors offices, mall's, hotel's, model houses, all kinds of places
then she would also charge them a monthly fee to come in and take care of the plants : )

so yeah i worked for them from the time i was 13-14 off and on untill i was about 26.
to tell you the truth i cant stand working with plants many of them make me itch with even the smallest scratch :wtf:
and if i have to pick one more yellow leaf in my lifetime i might just have to shoot myself J/K

i do still enjoy growing pot and peppers but this year i could only grow the peppers
i have my 215 but i dont want to grow unless i know im going to be here untill harvest time.
i guess i should at least start an indoor crop but indoors feels like stepping back after growing monster outdoor plants. i have seen some impressive indoor crops but i wouldnt use that big of a light even if it could grow gold nuggets

so then to top it all off im board as heck with plants by the time im 18 but stupid me i go and major in forestry and minor in agriculture :wtf:

i have done several yrs. at an x-mas tree farm and nursery, it was one of my first jobs. lol, rows and rows of x-mas trees will give you visuals when you close your eyes after a long day at work. i have also worked on a potato farm in the cloning greenhouse(it was short lived) then i worked as a recycler at a college and on the days that i got to hit the botany classes green house i would always spend an extra few minutes in there just looking around. it was an indoor jungle. then there is the landscaping jobs that i always seem to end up with. i too am starting to dislike working with plants unless it is my own yard or as a hobby.
