Texas - when I tried hooking multiple air stones to a single pump/line, it didn't work. You should test your system right away - you may need to exchange that pump for a multiple outlet one.

I'm using that same fan. It's ok but it doesn't blow near hard enough so I'm using a 12" oscillating fan along with it.

Mine is 8" x 6" and about 24" long. But I bet you could get by with one-half that length (12") cuz 24" is a pretty big filter.

    You are welcome!

Somewhere along the line, on the filter, you are going to get to the point of diminishing returns as the increasing thickness of filter restricts air flow. In that respect, longer would probably be better than thicker.

And, anyway, the fucking filter only costs about $25 - $30 so save your pennies and six months from now build a second filter and when the first one goes bad, replace with the second and then you only need to refill the used filter and hell, with a minimum of effort you can be in filter heaven for the forseeable future.
