First Grow - when should jiffy pellet seedlings be transported to rockwool

I have recently germenated several seeds and planted them in jiffy pellets. Once I see a sprout should I immediately put the pellet in a 4" rockwool cube?

I'm also realizing the small ready to grow hydro system I've had for a while but never tried to use until now will really only fit jiffy pellets/1" cubes, so I'm going to build my own 3'x2'x4" tray/resivour system soon. If my seeds sprout before I can have it ready, can I water them manually 3 times a day with a ph balanced half strength solution?

I read through the faq's forum and have been reading some books, and havent really found anything to help me make up my mind on this, I hope this post isn't too annoyingly "green" though..

Don't feed them for at least 2 week. Start germing in rock wool starters 1 inch. If you use pellets you should wash them off and go to hydrotron.. If your planning on rockwool ebb and flow then start in rockwool. You can water them till you get your tray made just PH water.

I was planning on 45 angle drip stakes just plugged into the rockwool. should I still start in rockwool?

I would start in rockwool but you will be alright. We all must give it a try and see what works for you. Sounds good, you been reading that's a good start.

Remember no nutes for 2 weeks at least and then bring it up slow.

GH 3 part is good . I used the lucus formula. Don't forget the Cal-mag plus. It's a must for hydro no mater what nutes you use. Superthrive is good too, it's a B1 complex.

    KILLER!

    thanks a bunch Loc.

I picked up timers and hydroton to fill the each container a bit until I get my drip tray ready. btw, do you think I should go with what I was thinking (drip stakes in the rockwool) or an eb and flow system filled with hydroton or clay pellets? right now i'm growing kind of a starter/test crop of bag seed, but I just got my Easy Sativia in the mail (the site I got them from says they're an indica sativia mix) and plan to germinate them soon and until then just get my system set up and see how the bag seeds do. hopefully I can learn from them a little bit until I'm ready for the ES.

    p.s they sprouted today!

You have net pots. I would go with the drip and recirculate. Drop the pump into the rez. I'm not too familar with ebb and flow but drip can run 24/7 without problems. As soon as that sprout comes up good 3 or 4 sets of leaves fill with rocks.
Indoor grows are mostly indica to keep the hieght down but alot are mixed. Indica's can be really stoney.
Yea it's good to learn from the bag seed. Besides most all strain are chronic, it's all in the grow. They will suprize you as to how good they can be. Most bagseed are sativa because they are grown outside to be very tall.

Plant a few of you new seeds and proof them under fluro's then back to veg and you have mothers to clone from . This way you save seeds and time on having males. Cloning is easy.

perfect. I'm basing my drip design on a video I've been reviewing called "I grow chronic" hosted by a guy painted green. Its in a DVD compilation of a bunch of videos that has been really helpful. found it on bit torrent.

there's also one by a british guy that is really good. he's why I used jiffy pellets. He says all you need to do is soak it in water for five minutes squeeze 20% of the water out and you're good to go, versus the more professional/precise way of using rockwool and making sure your water is a CF of 12 and pH of 5.5

    does that sound right?

one more ultra green question; is the conductivity factor (or EC) the same/interchangalble as Parts Per Million?

if so does a CF of 12 mean that you are at/under the safe level of PPM?

one last thing (sorry if this is just a beating)
I'm planning on these meters, do they look alright?

here they are! (5 days old, they sprouted monday)

the tall one really took off today, its "wing span" grew over the course of the day, and you can see the second set of leaves comin in.

how does the distance of my lights look?

horizontal light is a 24" full spectrum dual tube fluoro (20W - 975 lum each)

the vert light is a CFL full spectrum 125W 6400k and it doesnt say the lum

the plants stay under the humidity dome most of the time, I take it off and let the fans hit em for a while at night.

Meters are OK, just make shure you get calibration solution to check them from time to time.. Plants looking good just get the lights as close as you can. Fluro's will not burn them and it keeps the streching down.
