Article also says there a rumours that Blair is going to convert to catholicism, but I though he was already? This article shed some light on that rumour.

Pope: Miracles hard to come by in Britain | the Mail on Sunday

"After the meeting, the Pope's office issued a strongly worded statement, saying the two men had a 'frank discussion on the international situation, in particular the delicate question of the Middle East conflict'. The actual wording of the communique contained the Italian phrase 'franco confronto', literally translated as 'frank confrontation' - inflammatory language seen as highly unusual in Rome."

Nothing in this world should be kept further apart from eachother than politics and religion. Whether Blair and the pope had a delightful chat, or if Blair is going catholic is of no concern to me whatsoever. All it does is add greater speculation that these figures are fueled by religious fanaticism in their duties more than anything else.

I couldn't disagree more. Religion is at the heart of politics, so is science. Both, unfortunately, are destructive forces these days but that is largely because the main religions and scientific doctrines have lost touch with reality, and that is also largely because they have grown too large. It is also because they have become polarised disciplines. Small is beautiful, as Schumacher once illustrated, although I have yet to cast my eyes upon it.

Religion and politics are inextricably linked and have been for 1000's of years. Science is (ahem) relatively new on the scene, a few 100 years ago it was classed as witchcraft or blasphemy (it still is in some quarters lol). And by its very nature isn't science the study of reality ? I do agree that science is THE most destructive force on the planet, though only in the wrong hands. And yes the strict religious doctrines laid down over 2000 years ago are not adequate for 21st century society (10 commandments aside). Anyway i don't particularly trust Blair or the Pope

Blair, the Pope, Bush, all people in major power roles are not to be trusted. I'm sure you've heard "absolute power corrupts absolutely", In Bush's case it is absolutely true.
