Glass Screens
This is what a "glass screen" looks like. No big deal really. They have a tendency to break because of the heat or just get lost when you dump the pipe out, depending on how high you get.

I've had the same one I picked up from a headshop well over a month ago. They can last, as long as stupid/stoned friends don't dump it out. If need be, just make sure you have an ash tray nearby to make finding it easier.
Its never showed any signs of cracking, and lets just say I've put the flame to it hard. It's perfect for my bong w/ ashcatcher. No one will dump that out. At least if they dont want to shower in bong water...

I'm a convert to the glass screen. I used metal for a while, the owner of my local shop was like "Try glass gauzes! They last longer, taste better!"
So I did, and I was wowed. Easier to clean and maintain as long as you pop it out every couple of bowls.
I managed to hold on to my first one for like.. 2 months before my (idiot) friend dumped a cached pipe out onto the Interstate. Doing 70 down I-26 and he rolls the window down, and taps it.
I'm like "DUDE! My screen!"
And he started trying to see if he could see it on the road. What an idiot.
Wasn't a big deal, but two months is a long time for a glass screen.

Glass and metal expand at different rates when they are heated.. Using a glass screen in a glass pipe.. will make the pipe last longer because the entire pipe is going to be expanding and retracting at just about the same rate.
Enjoy!
