Why does everyone hate metal?

the mainstream shit being produced now days is fucking SHIT i especially hates the song by mims - this is why im hot! there is nothing to IT!! anyone can write shit like that.. the mainstream beats r catchy so i guess thats why they get air time ?!

metal can be good and shit, it jsut depends on personal preference i think. i jsut hate when ppl categorise all the genre of music into one thing like all metal is played drop d and jsut screaming

Here's my thing against most of the metal in genre. I think for the most part it's too soft. It's like since Dimebag died, metal crumbled.

Much of metal sounds like this. Now there a number of good metal bands. Pantera, Sepultura, Slayer, Opeth, Between The Buried & Me. Bands who actually sound hard, skilled musicians and are creative.

However a lot of metal sounds so bland, like the band I listed above. It's not hard, it's a joke. They either try to sound like everybody else, or they try to write a complex song, and make it sound like crap.

I challenge all metal fans to listen to Lightning Bolt. There aren't even metal, but their sound is more tight and harder than many metal bands. The catch? They are only a two-piece, a modified bass and drums. That's it.

Metal can have a great sound, but like everything else, you have to sift through shit to find something actually good.

My avatar is Lightning Bolt's Hypermagic Mountain album cover. I agree, they are incredible, and Brian Chippendale(drummer) is one of my heros. But they aren't metal at all, noise rock.

Listen to Discordance Axis, Suffocation, Aborted, or Carcass. Even though these bands are old, there are still bands ripping shit up today. Nile and Necrophagist are some examples. And if you don't like that type of shit there is even more styles. For example you could dig Noothgrush or Corrupted, or maybe even Candelmass. There are so many styles and subgenres of this genre I don't know how you couldn't find at least one thing you're into.

I'm happy to see another that appreciates Lightning Bolt! Hypermagic Mountain is one of of their best, actually all their albums are pretty good, although Wonderful Rainbow is my personal favorite. Their progression is just amazing, I can't wait until their next album comes out, which should be this or next year. I haven't seen them live either, but I heard they do shows where they perform on the floor level with their fans. God, the minute they announce their touring, I'm immediately getting tickets.

I read it sometime ago, it was on pitchfork or something like that. Could be just a rumor. I'm just pissed off that Lightning Bolt had a tour this year, and it came nowhere close to DC. Grrrrr.....

there is good metal and bad. it isnt for everyone and it isnt easy to listen to so people hate. as far as im concerned no metal band touches pantera and probably never will be. people have tried to say lamb of god are the new pantera. that is a joke. slipknot...well they dont step either. anyway it isnt a contest but the point is on every instrument and definitely vocally they are the best. i myself cant stand a lot of the screaming. acid bath is one of the only other metal bands with real screaming i can stand. i think they are great too. the main reason is the screaming isnt easy to listen to and it immediately turns people away though.

I don't like most metal because when i'm stoned I just wanna chill and it's hard when my buddys have it cranked and some guy is creamin in my ear, but for some reason I like the band children of Bodom. It just pumps me up, and metallicas good 2.
