Why does everyone hate metal?

i think its easier to understand metal than mike jones. sounds like hes trying to talk with a handful of socks in his mouth.

metal differentiates(spelled wrong i bet) the riffs and the beat through the song, and rap is just the same computer beeps and cars honking through it all.

metal has emotion and meaning to its songs....rap...well....."im gonna skeet on your face then smoke a fat blunt while i run from these cops" or "this is why im hot this is why im hot" doesnt really have any meaning at all, except for showing how much some dude wants to jizz on something and smoke blunts?

i do like some rap though.

i prefer metal though because i like the way it sounds, and i feel like i got dumber after listening to most rap.

there's good rap and bad rap. certain people in that "culture"...more like counter culture...like the gangster shit.. consider it hardcore. far from what's on the radio.

just like metal... there's commercial and "real" shit.

both types of sound are hated a lot.
maybe because they aren't relaxing and pleasant. and the only emotion they cause is anger.
and music, to me, is allllll about what mood it makes. yes, there are rap songs that make a mood different from the "booty-fucking" mood that most carry and
yes, there are metal songs that make a mood different from the "i want to rip your head off" mood that most carry.

i would completely understand if someone told me "i hate rap" or "i hate metal"

maybe because the music itself stirs up emotions that people do not want to remember.

but it's fine for people that "for some reason".......want to feel that again.
but i'm peaceful....so i decide to pass on hardcore rap and metal, i'll stick with the "soft" shit.:stoned:

and besides, metal is considered a type of rock.
where you all are comparing "rap" that is a "genre" of music.
Theres club rap, gangster rap(which is the equal of metal), soft rap, hard rap, hard core rap.... lmao.. ridiculous but for some people it sounds as normal as "classic rock".

Rap in itself is jus a form of the Culture Hip Hop, todays pop that claims to be rap is plain ridiculous and it's pretty open and plain to see. Real Rap speaks truth the truth about poverty,politics,street life,knowledge,self respect,individuality,equality,civil rights,injustice,and peace.

I love metal. Metal today sucks though. I hate the screaming. Slayer is about as screamy as I like. It's the same reason I hate mainstream rap these days. The lead singer/rapper puts on a facade. You don't have to scream like a demon from DOOM or talk about how tight your DEagle is to be hard. Wu-Tang was as hard as any rap group ever, but they were lyracists. Black Sabbath was harder, meaner, and grittier than any Lamb of God track could ever hope to be. The riffs are clouded in a haze of shitty guitar tone, and the singer sounds like a bad mock of Hellraiser. Complete shite. Hatebreed=GAY, LoG=Gay, Children of Bodom=queers. Listen to real metal. Slayer, the first four Metallica albums, Priest, Maiden, stuff that takes talent. Iron Maiden, now THAT is talent. Iron Maiden>any metal band you think is sweet.

Scorpions (w/Shenker)
Early Motorhead
Deep Purple
Blue Cheer
Bongzilla

But a lot of metal is poser trash. Too much of it for the rest to be taken seriously.
At least SOME rap represents a lifestyle based in reality, not some teenage goth fantasy.
So, what if you're in a really great metal band?
You might as well be in a really great polka band, because only a few people will give a rat's ass.

Metal is amazing, im glad to be a "metal head". Although I like screaming in songs I hate if its used just for effect and not to potray any emotion. I lean more towards power metal like iron maiden which would be my favourite band.

Man, that's awsome you understand the greatness that is Motorhead. Almost all the kids into metal today don't even know who Motorhead are. IMHO, I think they're just as worthy of the "founding fathers of metal" title as Black Sabbath. The way I see it, Sabbath invented metal, Motorhead made it heavy metal. Yet inerestingly, at the same time, Lemmy insists to this day that Motorhead are "just rock 'n roll". They did some fine blues with "Whorehouse Blues" as well. imp:

Yeah I understand where you're coming from if you're a real metal purist. But the way I see it, for what Arch Enemy does, they do it perfectly. It's just pure death metal, immensely skilled guitar, and solid vocals (angela gossow seems likeable and intelligent too).

As for Dark Tranquillity, you have to understand the Gothenburg style and how DT are revered as the creaters of the genre. I know Gothenburg has been turned into crap, macho assholes who sound like angry teenagers (IE Soilwork), but DT is the one band that really managed to keep it pure. Plus they have some incredibly catchy riffs.... but this is coming from me, who has DT among my favorite bands. and I'm really damn high, really really high, so I ramble lol.

Right now i'm listening to Death's Scream Bloody Gore album, fucking sick..

Can't say I'm crazy about the Death, but I can't deny Chuck Shuldners talent. I mean that guy has some incredible skill and a great voice... the style just doesn't really do it for me. Although "Sound Of Perseverence" was amazing, a couple of my favorite songs are from there including "Voice of the Soul" and "Story to Tell".
