    Hey everyone!

New poster - thought I'd see who all is from my area and share my story with you.

I have been the primary caregiver for my 74 year old mother for the past 5 years. She has a variety of ailments, but one of the most dibilitating for her (and my family, as well) is chronic, extreme nausea. I've had her to the "top-rated" gastro hospitals/doctors in the state of PA, where she underwent every test/scope available to determine the cause of this crippling condition. No cause has ever been found! She has been hospitalized repeatedly - just for the nausea - and has been prescribed every anti-nausea medication out there. It was nothing for us to be at the ER for an injection of compazine (or other med) 5 out of 7 days. And, just incase you've never experienced a visit to the ER, I can tell you it's not a pleasant way to spend a day. It was nothing to have to wait 4 hours (or more) just to be seen by a physician. Then we'd wait while they ran umpteen tests, only to wind up giving the injection that I requested as soon as the doc entered her room - and the entire time, being so nauseated you just want to die.
Her own PCP eventually started giving her the injections at his office to help cut out the ER visits - a huge help! He then had me administer the injection at home - once he saw how often we were at his office. Most of these meds worked at one time or another. However, now, most likely due to the fact she's had to take so many and her body has developed an immunity to them, none work any longer. I can't honestly describe the effects her nausea has had, not only on her body/mind, but on my entire family - wife and son. You never knew when you would be awoken for a trip to the ER - could be 1am, 2am, 6am, literally any time of the day or night. No such thing as a "normal" life under such conditions. I could no longer work outside of the home as there was no one to help with the care.
Finally I said enough was enough!
I had to put myself in jeopardy of being arrested as I hung out on the streets in search of marijuana. I no longer cared though - relief was needed.
I started grinding the marijuana and placing it into capsules, which I would administer in the following manner - 1 cap 3 times per day. By the 3rd day her nausea (an ailment that had plaqued her everyday of her life for the past several years) was gone! Completely gone!
I recorded the results everyday for 1 month and then approached her doctor about Marinol. He was very reluctant at first, but has since been prescribing it for her. However, it definitely does not work as well as the pure marijuana did. She still gets nauseated on the Marinol, not as frequently and not as bad. I can give her an injection of Compazine now and it actually works - but I only have to do that maybe 2-3 times per month. Still, if I had access to a ready supply of the pure, I would return to using it. Once I had given her the 3 capsules daily for a month, I was able to cut the dosage back to just 1 capsule daily and she had no nausea at all. Still, we're all much more relaxed now than we were last year at this time.
I'm now in the process of working with 2 individuals with Crohn's disease..passing information along to them so they can make a more informed decision regarding treatment options available.......

I look forward to being an active member of this forum...very glad I came across it!!!

    Doc,

I've been writing politicians/representatives for about the past year now...and have included my mom's story with every letter. I also have a couple of IBD sufferers who have been trying mj for their conditions and they are keeping journals. That way I can include those testimonials as well....and remember if anyone in my area knows of the 420 situation give me a shout out....not easy to find when you don't get out of the house much and it definitely works better than the marinol..that's well documented in the journal I keep for my mom...

    Hey Chefwilli,
This hard to write, as it gives me up a bit, but I've had some access to folks who have children, in a terminal state, some with nausea problems, and nothing was working.
At first, I could not even think of helping as the age issue glares at you, then, you realize these folks, are desperate, they are living with constant agony, in their minds, and in their childs mind.
I'd love to be specific here, but, longstory shortened, check out butter making in the fourms.
I sent a reciept to a lady, who had to try something, she wrote back to me with a pic of this very sick child, with the tiniest smile I ever saw, the smile of the sick...the smile of the dying, thats feeling relief! It still brings tears to my old eyes, but the little girl passed on with peace...with some relief. The mother, was not a pot smoker, user in any form, but she's a believer now!!

We've become a terrible nation. If 200+ million people didnt let shit happen it would not!

ChefWilli, man best to ya!! Maybe you should registar at Planetganja, maybe someone would know there.
