heat and light
when you put your temp gauge directly in the light it shows 90 but at the same distance but not in the direct light it shows 80 or just under. which reading do you go off.

what you think really matters for a plant grown outdoors-------the temp of the sun at it's core or at the plant's surface?

80F at the plant is within very compfortable range.
