I could care less about the constitution of palestine, but I am gravely worried about ours. The "hate" is well deserved. I have never seen a president with such callous disregard for the American people and the constitution as GW Bush. Even Nixon had more respect for the constitution than Bush and he was the ass of the century. Maybe if people like you paid more attention to our constitution and less to Palestines, we'd be closer to having a constitutional democracy with all our rights in place.

I wonder why America bothers to have elections anymore, it seems as though it's the party with the greatest number of lawyers in the supreme court that wins these days. At least Hamas won fair and square, albiet on the back of support for counter measures towards the Isreali/American hegemony.

I think he was refering to his stance on the interference of Palestinian affairs by the hegemons. Seems like a perfectly relevant point to me.

The actual issue was whether or not Hamas has the right to have it's own army under their constitution. The only thing that links either the U.S. or Israel to this is our support of Abbas.

Your well up on your homework, that's for sure, more than I can say. How many government's do they have over there in Isreal? I don't understand how an elected government shouldn't be allowed an army, or how they have one election in 2005 and then another in 2006.

OK you got me, wrong thread, But, while we are discussing the totally irrelevant constitution of a third world country, maybe we should consider our own, seems to me that is way more important to US citizens, Those idiots in palestine have blood feuds going back thousands of years, you know, your cousin killed my uncle etc. Nothing will ever work in that part of the world. Peace is a very abstract theory to them. If you took away all the guns, they'd be killing each other with knives, rocks, or any other weapon they could lay hands on. Guns just make it less personal and easier.

An elected government has the right to an army but the question is who is in controll of that army. In their constitution, it is made VERY clear that Abbas, the President, is in charge of the armed forces.

Well, some of us Brits havn't forgot about the days when the Jews back stabbed us. We helped save them from the Nazis, and not to mention giving them Israel. And how did they repay us, by killing my countrymen!. So Forgive me if i don't share as much love for the zionist state as you.
