If they were elected in 2006, why is Abbas still in power? Do they have two elections for different parts of the government, or is Abbas refusing to stand down?

He was elected to the President position.......Hamas just won the majority of the seats in their parliment. Like with our elections in "08"....there'll be a number of House seats up, Senate, and the Presidential seat.

Abbas...the Fatah party, is willing to negotiate with Israel about issues. Hamas has the directive of kicking Israel out to the sea and taking over the land........NO negotiations, just death.

The actual issue was whether or not Hamas has the right to have it's own army under their constitution. The only thing that links either the U.S. or Israel to this is our support of Abbas.

and the U.S. has less of a right than any other country other than Israel to be involved with this shit storm in the middle east. We, the U.S., is just tied in with loose alliance to Israel and our retarded involvment in Iraq.
