Manhunt 2 banned in the UK/AO rating in the US

    What a bunch of bullSHIT.

I've been looking forward to this game for ages, and now i'm being told it will hurt my poor, fragile mind by a bunch of fucking paranoid old ladies.

The relation between violent video games and real life domestic violence has never once been conlusively proven. Children can no more buy this game in HMV then they can walk into Hostel II at their local Odeon. Both reasons for the ban are total bullshit. Surely the whole idea of being an adult is making your own decisions. They may as well tuck me into bed, give me my dah-dah and read me a fucking Aesop's fable. TWATS!

Yes, i'm pissed off. And for the yanks, it's been denied by Nintendo because of the highly pointless AO rating. We must do what we thought we'd never, ever do... Put all our hope in France.

Sony has still as of yet stated whether or not they will allow it being sold as an AO rating. So PS2 owners in the US may as of yet still get to play it (hopefully) It's a load of crap IMO, the game is no worse than say the SAW movies and a M for Mature rating is more than enough for the game.

I'm getting really tired of politicians, soccer moms and stores having prudish "moral" values dictating whats acceptable for me to play. Gaming is not a "kids only" past time. It's an adult past time now as well and I as a 25 year old adult have the right to buy and play any damn video game I want. Yeah the US may not technically ban it, but if Nintendo and Sony won't license it, if Walmart, Target and Eb games wont carry it in stock..it's virtually banned for me to.

pc pc pc... all i can say... lol...

games that are 'too bad' for consoles, or just too big... well go to pc... believe me.. developers didn't spend all that money to develope the game to be told 'sorry, your game isn't clean enough' or w/e... it will come out somewhere..

PC my arse. It's gotta be Wii, this is THE Wii game. This is the game that will piss in the face of anyone that ever said Nintendo is for kids. I want to gouge someones eyes out with the Wii remote. I want to get a firm grip on it and yank hard to pull someones gonads off with a rusty pair of pliars. I wish, oh I so wish, to do a sawing motion and watch me saw through someones head on the screen. The Wii is the only version worth playing...

... and yet even Nintendo are actually conforming to the view that they are against violent games :wtf: .

I will have it, one way or another.

I've always been outspoken against these types of games, I think some of them go too far. But I see little point in banning this and not GTA, for example. I'm not a fan of censorship really, but I can see their point. You have to consider how vividly realistic these games are, they involve the player in the first person, you get to decide when and how to kill your victim, which is probably a big part of the attraction of being a sadistic killer, I'd imagine. The other part is getting to really kill people, an aspect that this genre of gaming has yet to conquer.

It's available in Norway if that's any help...

Hehe, I should have seen you coming Staurm  .

The fact is, millions of people bought the first Manhunt... Did the murder rate escalate overnight? Of course not. Is the games industries only audience impressionable youngsters? Of course not. Watching Hostel II is like watching a fetishistic sadism pornography, yet noone bats an eyelid. You can buy 'I spit on your grave' and 'Bais Moi' on DVD in any high street retailer, two films that are free of any artistic merit and utterly, relentlessly focused on the rape and murder of innocent people. But hey, it's ok because your just watching it, not actually doing it, right? Surely watching that shit is ten times more likely to turn anyone into a psycho? Not that I believe it, but it seems more likely than anyone being influenced by poorly textured, blocky, barely realistic looking 3D models on a computer game. Any gamer knows the 'intimate relation' to the on-screen action is nothing but the fun to be had in games, it's the whole freaking point. It's pure, unjustified paranoia and STILL something that has not been proven.

What's hostel II like compared to the first? The impression I get from the screen shots is its probably not as brutal. Part of the effect of the first was the squalor of the dungeon I think, in the second one it does resemble something more in line with a fetish club.

Picture a girl hanging upside down above a bath. Another woman gets into the bath with a sickle and proceeds to cut long, deep wounds into the girl so that she bleeds into the bath. The torturess writhes in ecstasy as the bath fills up.

Oh but hey, it's ok as long as it's not a game right? I wouldn't be surprised if Doctor Lecter in the front row started jacking off.

Bleedin' Nora! That is fucked up that is. I mean its virgin on bloody sick. Still, at least its got a bit of lesbo action in it, I prefer it if they keep their skin on though, but I'm just old fashioned. I normally prefer a nice chardonnay and often a good old lamb shank for dessert, to a chianti.
