We really need the input here of people like The Smoking Monkey, who has expertise in dentistry, and also persons such as Fake Boobs Rule or Dave Byrd, who can provide expert medical input.

My inclination would be not to smoke till you've healed a bit more and your tissues have begun to mend themselves. But there are people here all the time who smoke anyway, even when it's not the ideal thing. Is your jaw wired together? Aren't you worried about what might happen if you had a strong need to cough afterwards?
