Bush ready to veto stem cell measure
It's a hard issue for me to pick one side or another. I've thoroughly discussed the morality of abortion with my friends as is, questioning the "humanity" of a fetus, and honestly I still can't come to a solid conclusion. Overal though, I'm more bothered by abortions of a fetus that exhibits any brainwaves. I think once they have any spark of a mind, the abortion shouldn't happen unless medically necessary.
However, I was under the impression that the objection to stem-cell research was based on cloning the embryo's for use then destroying them. Objecting to the use of fetuses already aborted, if that's the case, I just don't understand. They're going to the garbage either way, might as well save some lives in the meantime. As for Embryo's, I'm still somewhat on the fence, but considering that they have no real conscious form or even a spark thereof, I'm inclined to support it.
Personally I strongly support stem-cell research considering I have a stake in it, and I'm sure there's a lot of people in chronic pain who do to. As is, there's NO cure or anything close to cure my condition. From what I've been reading, stem-cells are the first breakthrough that actually has hope of ending my constant pain, and the considerably worse constant pain of many MANY other sufferers with diseases like Multiple Sclerosis or Cancer.\"I think your love of the halfling\'s pipeweed has slowed your mind\"
