That's very true. I use it for my back and headaches and without it i'd be in pain, so yes, in that way i am dependant on it for a happy pain free [almost] life, but it's not something i crave. It's something i enjoy.

LIP Reviewed by LIP on 06-20-2007. whats your opinion? what is your opinion on marijuana addiction? i beleive it is addictive but mostly only physcillogicly(thats spelt wrong), i think its not so much u need it but you want it,and are very used to how things appear or how u take things when high, the few times ive had to stop i experienced many symptoms like insomnia, huge loss of appetite, and some other things. wat do u think? pyscholigcally maybe because i think " it would be nice if i was buzzed right now." but even if it was pyschially (sp?) addictive its not as bad ; like heroin is at least when theres no bud you can still function.

I mean I was never the type to smoke a pack a day.. but whenever I could bum a cig from someone I'd do it.. and now I fiend then every once in a while.. like.. omg I need a cig! but then it goes away.. pot I'll be like I want to get high.. but meh... im cool

Physically addictive? No. Psychologically, yes. I like LIP's term "habit-forming" real well.

It doesn't matter what the substance is, in the hands of some people with compulsive or addictive tendencies, they're going to form some sort of dependence on it even if it's not classic physical, craving-driven addiction.

Same thing with some people and cannabis being a gateway drug no matter what the studies say about that. For some people, it is a gateway drug. Not because cannabis is some sinister introductory substance that compels people on to more serious drugs. But because certain people are wired so they're destined to go through the gates to other drugs no matter what they start with. They could start with chocolate ice cream and that'd be a gateway substance.
