I just checked out Dark Star, a really early John Carpenter film. It's pretty funny, a few subtle references on the cover I had to blazing but not so many in the film. It's basically a spoof on 2001 ASO, and using low budget effects it succesfully borrows a lot from Kubrick's masterpiece. Reccommend anyone to get high and watch this.
