    Herb and Anxiety Medication

Alright, here's the deal. I have a general anxiety problem that started about 2 years ago. I had an anxiety attack (hyperventilating, sweaty, numb and felt like i was gonna pass out/die). Ever since then, I've felt different and had a general feeling of anxiety at all times. I went to the doctor and have tried a few different anti-depressants but none worked and the sexual side-effects suck. During this time i stopped smoking herb cuz I needed to figure this shit out and herb just wasn't helping me. So about a year ago I give up on anti-depressants and just try natural ways (yoga, supplements, exercizing). None really worked that well. So I go to my doctor and tell him I don't want anti-depressants, and nothing else is working. So he gives me 2mg of Klonipin. This shit takes care of anxiety, relaxes me back to how i used to before this bullshit anxiety stuff. So immediately when I realize this shit works well, I start smoking herb again and the combo of the 2 is perfect for my anxiety. I can smoke without the meds, but if i get reefed I kinda get anxious.

The only thing I worried about is dependency on the Klonopin and basically using them together. Are there any studies that have anything to do with the uses of Klonipin and Cannabis?

Anti Depressants. ARE not used for, Anxiety/ Panic Attack's. Klonopin, Xanax, Valuim. And most other Benzo's work well for those kinds of medical issues. Not sure why they would put you on anti depressants for panic attacks.

Anti depressants work for anxiety too. But uhh I take .5 xanax 2-3 times daily and smoke weed maybe 3-4 times a week. And I feel it easy to stop taking xanax and just use herb. BUt xanax isn't that addictive compared to valium, not sure about klonopin. :stoned:

    Herb and Anxiety Medication

Most of my panic and anxiety was caused by Celiac, which interferes with serotonin (more on that below). After going on the gluten free diet, the panic attacks stopped. The remaining anxiety is probably due to my dysautonomia, a neurological condition. This is common in people that have a prolapsed mitral valve, which includes me.

Most of the body's serotonin is produced in the gut, and if that isn't healthy, you've got a problem. This is probably why SSRI's helped me before being diagnosed with Celiac and going on a special diet.

I took Zoloft for a year but stopped 20 months ago. I have a Rx for Xanax, which I take 1 to 3 times a week. It only lasts for 3-4 hours per dose, but it's relaxing. I also tend to have some anxiety problems with very strong weed, and have cut down to practically nothing. I'm going to try to get some indica which should be less anxiety-producing.

The only thing I take on a daily basis is 5-HTP, available over the counter, which is supposed to naturally create serotonin in the gut. It seems to work. 90% of the time I'm not taking any other remedies but that, but I may cop some weed in the near future.

A lot of times, rather than taking an anti-anxiety med, it's better to sleep or just wait it out if possible. Exercise helps, also.

I started getting panic attacks earlier this year in school because of all the stress I was going under. I started taking Fluoxetine which is a generic of Prozac, but basically works the same way. I use it to help control my anxiousness, depression, and my hypochondriac symptoms. I can smoke and be on it at the same and won't notice a difference. I just have to let my mind know that it's the weed that is making me anxious not the medicine. I'm sure you know by know that it can take up to 6-7 weeks for an anti-depressant to start having noticeable effects. Just my 2 cents.

    yeah they are.

it's sounds like you were put on paxil because you metioned the sexual side effects, I've been on paxil for a little while and havn't really liked it to much either but im interested in giving klonopin a try.

ever hear of bluelight? those are some great forums for discussing prescription drug x-periences and whatnot.

yea i was reading up on how marijuana works with the body and it says that it messes with the serotonin in ur body. i cant remember how but since i have an ssri (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) i think that it lessens the effect of the zoloft i take for anxiety. i talked to my doctor about it and he said that the zoloft probably lost 20% of its effect. I think its just fukin bullshit that the gov't doesnt allow any testing of marijuana so we can know for sure how it effects other medicines and everything since sooo many people use it.
