Reflectix? Got a value of about R-3, about 85% reflective, kind of expensive for the coverage. PITA to hang, as it has enough shape memory to want to curl up. Dulls knives incredibly fast. Staples dimple it up- Hot spots? Tough to shape into a tight corner, but works well on a frame.

    Miracle-Gro ...

OK, I made the trip to Home Depot today, light meter in hand ... in a nutshell, the shiny white 'pebble-grained' fiberglass shower-enclosure-type paneling' was a BAD reflector of light (15 foot-candles on my meter)... very disappointing, but, it was too expensive for me anyway $$$$ ... same for some white 'plastic' panels they carry, poor reflective qualities (15-18 footcandles) ... their 'flat-white Melamine-surfaced particle board' was MUCH better (25 footcandles) ... it reflects the same as flat-white paint, (which is pretty good, overall) ... it is available on 4'x8' sheets from 1/8" thickness to at least 3/4" ... that's probably what I'll use for my new cabinet ... I'm using Mylar now, and while it reflects the best when NEW, after a couple cleanings, it fogs, scratches, etc... I think I'll buy the Melamine-surfaced sheets, as they should be easy to clean, and durable, cleaning-wise ... this experiment wasn't very technical, I just measured the light falling on each board from Home Depot's overhead lights, but it seems to indicate comparative reflectiveness just fine ... I didn't find any of the 'bubble-sandwich insulation' ... :smokin:

I used the bubble wrap stuff in my cabinet. I thought it was easy to work with. I cut it to height then fastened the corners with 1"x2" bats which I then covered with silver tape. It's a bit of a PITA, but so are most things in life in one way or another. LOL

yes, that's the 'bubblewrap' they were talking about ... at the time, I didnt know what it was, and didnt see it ... I will try to test it tomorrow, I'm going to Home Depot ... the manufacturer's website claims it is 'up to' 97% reflective, but that seems optimistic to me ...

i was walking into menards for something else and it caught my eye, its rather shiny i must say... Thats when it crossed my mind that it wouldnt be bad to use but i never researched it as far as reflectivity. also seems it would be easy to work with too and just cut and paste and your pretty much done especially in a cabinet grow... i am rather curious as to how good it is myself.
