I didn't read the entire thread, because it wasn't the subject matter that I thought it was, but I got the gist

I should always express your opinion, no matter how controversial it may seem.
Your opinion is what makes you the person that you are. It shows that you have a viewpoint based on passion and belief. If we don't discuss our feelings and objections, we cannot progress.
Debate offers us the chance to gain a different perspective from our own, and can facilitate a broader understanding of the world, and its peoples.

I, as with everybody else on this planet, have my beliefs and convictions; they might be right, they might be wrong - but without hearing the otherside of the argument, they could never be informed.

It is at that moment, that we must learn to step back for a moment, collect our thoughts, and rejoin once we have assessed our new understanding.
Stooping to name-calling and disrespect, does nothing but create ill-feeling and a closing of the mind.

I enjoy rigorous, intelligent debate.
However, I always try to be respectful, compassionate, and am certainly not afraid of admitting that I am wrong (even though it is a rarity that almost negates the need for discussion ...).
With those basic rules in place, I say - Bring it on!
It's the only way we're gonna sort this mess of a civilisation out, I think.
