Backpacking in Colombia
Hola! This summer i'm going to Colombia for 6 weeks with my GF, we're basically going to hang around Medellin and the Caribbean Coast.
We don't really have any plans. We have dates that we want to be certain places, but not alot planned. But that's the best way to travel, right?!?! AHA I think so.
Anywho, anyone ever been to the great country of Colombia? Hows the buds? I hear that its dirst cheap, like a $1 a gram or some shit.....same can be said about their other famous export.

Backpacking in Colombia
my boss just got back from bogota
from what she tells me
i would be hesitant to venture
into the the wilderness out there
lots of kidnappings and murders
especially on foreigners
but she is a woman
and women tend to be a lil too paranoid
but still....be careful and have a safe trip
maybe stop taking showers a week before you goLove is patient and kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. I was going to go this past winter (chickened out) with my family they all had a great time. But there are places you don't want to go to. like friendbowl said there a lot of shady shit that goes on. if you stay in the touristy areas i think you will be fine.

The main hassle in Medellin can come from the guys in uniforms, (police/army/whatever), keep contact with them to a minimum, avoid eye contact, don't dress flash, hunker down if you're tall. There are most certainly parts of the city that you do not want to visit after dark - and it gets dark early. I found it best to look poor, shabby clothes, no wristwatch, no camera, and always at least try to appear as though you know exactly where you are and where you are going, with a look on your face that says "Don't even think of mugging me". During daylight life goes along fairly normally. Scoring weed is no problem, any market, but of course don't let anyone see more than they have to, no money up front. Charlie can vary greatly but will probably be the best you'll ever have. It cost about 1/50th of the price back home making it almost value for money. Larger amounts can be safely aquired but truly be careful as there are people willing to kill for $200.

Backpacking in Colombia
Hey everybody! this is macguyver, the original poster but I forgot my PW so I just changed my name.....Colombia was great, probably the best experience of my life(so far). We did amazing things and met some amazing people. The herb was dirt cheap, literally $.5 for a couple grams. It wasn't that great either, but you get what you pay for! Didn't get into any trouble with anyone(police, muggers, locals) and only got lost in Bogota! That was actually very scary because we jumped on the wrong bus and ended up in a rather shady neighborhood.....But we survived. The country has it's problems but I never ONCE felt threatened. Most of the travelers we met got robbed and in trouble mostly in Rio, Buenos Aires and Bolivia. None of them had any troubles in Colombia.
Oh and the women are absolutely, positively, the most beautiful in the world. My head was turning every 10 seconds, even my girlfriend would point out some lookers!! haha
edit: My friend and I planted some Voodoo seeds before I left and they are about 2-3 weeks from being in my pipe!! What a great thing to come back to!
