Ya know, some of the posts in this topic got me pondering one day while high and contemplative.. and I think I may understand a major reason why so many men are homophobic... bear with me as I was high and its just a supposition.

Its actually pretty simple, really. In todays world where homosexuality is more prevalent and accepted, many of the things that gay men enjoy are becoming more mainstream knowledge. 60 years ago, the only people that seemed to know what gay people did were gay people.. the rest of the world tried its best to ignore it, it would seem.

Switching it up for a second... Men enjoy the comraderie of their buddies. Good friends go fishing and camping and to bars together, they have poker night, guys nights out.. all sorts of shit. Its a bonding experience, and it brings them closer as friends. Gay men are the same as straight men in that respect, the only difference being, they actually have romantic feelings of love attached as well.

Homophobic men become uncomfortable when they realize that many of the same things they like doing with their buddies, are enjoyed by gay men and their lovers as well. Their insecurity makes them afraid that simply because they share something in common with a gay dude, that must mean they, in turn, are gay. And it freaks them out. Also, they very well could have had fantasies or dreams about men, which happens to more straight guys than most would think, and almost all of them get freaked out by it lol.

Not to mention society has been shunning homosexual activity via religion for a couple millenia now; and that has had quite an impact on the moderm male psyche. I guess it all breaks down to the fact that so many people on Earth are no longer their own person.. just imitations.. shells of pop-mainstream culture emulation. Dont trust the gut.. ask MTV or the media... theyll know. Its pathetic.

Anyway it wont last forever.. lesbianism is already becoming more and more accepted, mostly thanks to womens rights movements and the porn industry, ironically enough. And the fact that women are alot more beautiful than men, lol.

A lot of it's how you carry yourself, for I could VERY easily be mistaken for gay...let me describe myself...

I'm a tall and slender guy, and possibly the biggest pretty boy you'll ever meet, with long silky hair, a smooth face, big blue eyes, and very long, curly eyelashes. To top it off, I also wear purple quite a bit, and the odd pink. Somehow I never get thought of as gay, though...
