Tell him to masturbate. Masturbation has always turned my bad highs into good ones . Or, you could just tell your friend to take only one or two hits? If he hasn't smoked in so long, then one or two hits will get him high, if it's good stuff.

If he has a bad high even then, then it would probably be better if he didn't smoke; obviously he isn't able to take it.

Only bad high Ive ever had is when my girlfriend got really drunk and this guy was all over her. We had only started going out that week aswell. I must have smoked 5 or 6 bongs and a few joints but I felt nothing just depression. Whats worse was my girlfriend got really depressed to and just ran away from us, she got taken home by the police. Its all good now though, I couldnt be happier.

There is one way to prevent a bad high, and it's purely mental. If your friend thinks weed is sketchy in any way, there is a great chance he will have a bad high. This is why experienced smokers usually never get bad highs, because they understand that weed is just a harmless herb. New smokers don't realize this right away, as years of anti-marijuana propaganda is in the back of their minds. Marijuana is a slight psychedelic, and therefore it can bring out things like that from the back of your mind during your high, resulting in a bad experience.
