This one is not true. The folks at snopes.com checked with the LAPD and they said that was not a code they used, nor has it ever been.

This is, of course, the truth. In fact, I have never met a pothead who wasn't a Neo-Nazi. I've decided to mark this day by turning my avatar upside down, for a period of exactly 420 hours from now. MY avatar will be restored to its uprightly splendour on the morn of the 1st of July. Anyway, I'd like to know why I am celebrating the number 420, can someone please explain to me the relevance of the 420 thing. What is it, 42 multiplied by 10? 4 and 20 blackbirds baked in a pie? Wellll - California Law SB 420 is the law that, for lack of a better word, implements Prop 215, the compassionate care initiative that legalized mmj.

The bill was passed 10/2003 so I suppose it would be easy enough to see if there are 420 references prior to that time.
