Has anyone ever used this to grow cannabis?

Hey Al. Nice Threads on SoG and cloning in rockwool. I used to clone in rw myself but then decided toswich to rapid roters or jiffy pellets. I get my clones toshow fat roots in as little as 4-5 days. my prep method is pretty similar to yours with scraping the stem before diping into root powder....

Anyway that back to your comment... my plan was to do a SoG with this system to where I can harvest from 6-10 plants every 2 weeks or so... I alredy have about 30 clones in veg waiting for harvest... its looking like i am going to have to give away a few or even a lot of plants before i am ready to get this system really up and running. but thatll just give my mama more time to produce bettter bigger clones...

    Happy Growing!

    MDH, thanks for the compliment.

Just about any moisture-holding material can be used as a rooting medium. I use rockwool cubes as they are non-organic and can't mould or rot. My pots are stuffed with loose rockwool floc as well. Jiffy pots also can go to bits, which can allow particles of peat to foul the recirculating watering system. You won't want to use them in the aero system.

A Jiffy pot is a little smaller than a 40mm rockwool cube, accounting for the day or two sooner before you see roots. Both methods will have root nodes going in about the same about of time- but you just can't see them until they emerge from the medium. I've seen aerocloners develop roots in 4 days (and you can see 'em cos there's no media), but that'd have to be the cloning speed record.

The system you propose will change the way you grow entirely. In SoG, one need not (and preferably does not) veg clones before they are flowered. This keeps the plants short, well within the foliar penetration limits of indoor lighting. They will continue to veg a little until wk3-4 when they stop gaining height and start packing on bud weight. Under a 1000HPS, they will get to about 33-36" (1m) tall by wk4 and finish up pretty close to that height.

Did I mention you're only growing top colas? Yeah, you're only growing top colas. Lots of top colas. Nice, dense, thick, heavy, frosty top colas. That are nice, dense and frosty. And heavy. Man.

If mature plants are easily separable in the system you're describing to permit easy individual plant harvesting, it'd suit me fully.

Al - check out the link Rhizome left above. The aeroflo looks like it is sectional and designed for partial harvests.

Where i live is very hot during the summer. I mean really hot, like 120F. for a month hot. When it is this hot, my house is about 85F inside. Now I have a 5'X5' grow room, with good venting, but if I am pumping in air at 85F, how do I keep it below 85F with out killing my wallet? I saw a small swamp cooler at Lowes for $250. this would help also with the humidity, it goes at about 30%. Any ideas on a way to keep this room cool with out breaking my bank or my amount of time? These need to be equal.

Thanks for any input you guys and gals might have.:smokebong:

ARGH!!! I took one to many BONG hits.. I thought I was making a new post. How do I delete this?

The short answer is that swamp coolers aren't very useful in the grow. They only cool air a few degrees and put a ton of humidity in the air in the process.

Don't worry about low humidity. Low humidity will never cause you a problem aside from being very good for spider mites- but if you haven't got any mites, it's not a problem. High humidity will cause thin or stretchy buds, powdery mildew and a host of other evils.

Get the small A/C at slowes. It's only about 99 bucks and will keep a 5x5 plenty cool. I used one on a 4x6 and it works great but I had to get a dehumidifier also in my case cause RH was too high and small A/C's don't pull it out. They don't cost much to run.

LN, is there some benefit to having a separate small a/c and a dehumidifier or would a slightly larger a/c unit replace them both?
