Um it doesn't take a 'pro' to answer that question... lol

you need to check out the Grow FAQs, first, then scour the boards for more info - don't waste seeds, until you have done LOTS of reading, you'll save yourself $$$ that way - get some bagseeds, if you can, and learn with them first - don't throw money at seeds on your first grow - make your mistakes with freebies, then, when you're confident, get some better seeds - don't be intimidated by all the technical info you will run across - I grew very successfully, when I didn't know anything yet - like most people, the more I knew, the more I 'overdid' everything, plants are usually killed by too much 'love' (it's a WEED, dammit:wtf - if you are stumped, anyone here will be glad to help you - good luck :smokin:

Good advice above. Stuff I've learned over the years:
-First and last keep it quiet, one person knowing is plenty to many and a g/f is the WORST person to put in the know...most tips to authorities come from g/f during an argument according to statistics.
-Let 'ventilation' help decide on where/what you decide the designated grow area will be (i.e closet or cabinet), w/o the possiblity of adequate ventilation all will be for nothing...HIDs generate a significant amount of heat as you may already know.
-Save and spend the extra few bucks for a bit better equipment than entry level stuff, if you upgrade later you'll just end up payig more, and most upgrade thier equipment. A nice Sun Systems air cooled setup can be had on the web for not much more than the cheaper units. A 400W HPS would be nice for a small closet imo, just remember you want to maintain a target of 50W per sq ft of growing space (no lower than 50w per sq ft).
-If it's your first grow then maybe use some organic nutes to help prevent over-fertilizing...that's the most common mistake made which most of us are guilty of at some point, so remember to go easy on the nutes...always use half dosage and adjust as needed. Also do not over-water if doing soil, remember it's a 'weed' and only needs watering once the soil is mostly dry from top to bottom in the pot.

On a first soil grow if done properly and a bit of patience you can yield ~2oz dry per plant if it's a heavier producing strain....~1.5oz avg. I wouldn't rec hydro until having at least 1-2 soil harvests under the belt.

• Complete the grow space (as much as possible) before you plant anything.
• Invest in mylar/highly reflective material. (Mirrors/aluminum foil DO NOT work, btw)
• Do the math first! (sq. ft., watts/sq. ft., CFM, cost, dimensions, etc.)
• Keep quiet about it! Don't show anybody! Be PaRaNoiD!
• Invest in good products.
• Don't over-water/fertilize/analyze/stress.
• Remember: typical female/male ratio= 1:1, stress may trigger more males, plant accordingly. Plan to "thin the herd out."
