So. I took a urine test last Wednesday. Started my job today, assumed everything was okay. I had a voice mail from the medical center asking me to call them. Does this mean I failed? Worried about THC I drank "the stuff"

Hm, unfortunately I don't think this is what you want to hear but that call from the medical officer -- most probable is bad news. Return that call PROMPTLY. More often than not the MRO ( medical review officer ) will report the results as "pending" to the employer and then the MRO will call you to question you to see if there are extinuating circumstances.

The questions are along the lines of : " You tested postitive for THC. Is there any explanation you can provide? "

A : YES, there is -- I'm a pothead. OR " No! I have no idea what you're talking about [ insert feigned exasperation and anger here ] How is that possible? "

" Oh. Allright. Just checking. Have you been prescribed Marinol? "
FYI: Marinol is a psychotrophic drug used to treat severe mental disorders. And it also -- you guessed it -- produces THC metabolites. DO NOT SAY YES to this question if its not so -- they WILL ask for a valid prescription and doctor's contact information which they WILL check into.

FYI: Marinol is a psychotrophic drug used to treat severe mental disorders. And it also -- you guessed it -- produces THC metabolites.

Actually that is not what Marinol is prescribed for. It is used to treat nausea in cancer patients as well as weight loss or wasting in cancer and AIDS patients. They don't give you marinol if you are crazy or depressed. Sorry to bust your bubble.
