My First Medical Marijuana Experience/Experiment

I'm in North Carolina. We don't have medical MJ laws, so I've never thought of using it in any way other then recreational. However, I'm on a 2 week round of doxycyclene to combat potential lyme disease. This drug can cause nausea, and in my it does. When it does they tell you to take it with a little food. The problem is, this limits the drugs absorbtion... but they figure its better to absorb a little less then none at all (if you vomit it up from taking it on an empty stomach).

Well, I took it on an empty stomach without smoking up first, and 45 minutes later I was dry heaving and almost puking (I managed to keep it down though). A couple day slater I took it on an empty stomach again, but smoked out first this time... and I was fine!

Wow... is MJ really that effective normally in combating nausea. If so it is an enormous shame that it is illegal. Sure there is marinol, but what sense does it make to take a pill to fight nausea?

I don't like the thought of my stomach bile eroding pills when my stomach's empty.

Marijuana is magic and heals me immediately, even when doctors have given up on it. We don't have medical marijuana, in Virginia, and my last doctor told me to find a doctor who "supports" the cause, or, move to Oregon or California (noting Oregon's liberal laws). He supports patients who choose to use it, otherwise there's nothing else he can do.

I need to know who I can talk to next. I've tried moving halfway across the country, but, I can't afford it.

I felt pain through experimental medications and one hit of marijuana immediately starts working on the pain, and erases it.

I wish they had medical MJ in AZ as well because I have a form of colitis and a bowl of pot a day definately keeps the Dr away... or I dont go and see him as often.

I really dont understand why it is illegal especially when tobacco and alcohol are legal and kill far more people a year does than MJ (if MJ kills anyone at all). MJ has been proven to help fight the growth of cancerous tumors among many other great things. I dont want to sound like a total pothead but I just dont understand....WHY?

It is a shame, before I realized how greatly it can help me with Crohn's disease I thought all this medical marijuana stuff was just a scam so people could get pot. Now that I'm on the other side of the fence it pisses me off the lies continue to get pushed. I don't understand why people act like this is a dangerous drug, it's just a fucking plant!

As for marinol, that only delivers THC, so isn't as effective as good ol home grown mary J. It's expensive too, the drug companies gotta have their own cut too you know?

Medical MJ would be a huge, huge benefit for all the medicine taking old people in Florida, not to mention all the pain ailments here. But Florida is one of the most redneck, backward states there is, so that ain't gonna happen till every other state does it first, which is absolutely crazy as it is among the most needed here.

dont take marinol bro it can be realy good and cool, or can totaly fuck you up and make you puke and get sick for a couple hours. We used to think it was cool then I got sick and like three days later my cousin got sick and then sometimes it doesnt do anything to you like placibo or something. That is a stupid little pill they need to realize even the chemical make up of this great plant is very unique and amazing and stop synthizizing and start growing.imp:

JSN9333, it is indeed that effective in combatting nausea. It's great stuff. Helped my sister with nause from chemotherapy like nothing else. It's amazing. And it's a crying shame it's not legal for medicinal use in all states.

MadSativa, I'm sure you meant well, but please don't advise others on the use or avoidance of specific drugs. Just because Marinol had the effects you said your cousin experienced doesn't mean it affects everyone the same way. It typically doesn't cause that reaction. There are lots of people who get great relief from Marinol, but I agree that it's outlandishly expensive.

I had a bad reaction to some food the other day - not food poisoning, I think it was the combination of a few different foods. Unfortunately I was dry, but I went and grabbed my stems and starting picking off whatever leafy leftovers I could. I didn't get high, but the stomach-ache did go away! I also use it regularly for when my back pain gets out of hand. 'Tis a wonderful plant.

I agree. I didn't know how effective it was either, for things other than recreation and mental disorders, until one time my stomach was really bothering me, so I smoked like normal, and noted that my stomach ache that had been bothering me all day was all of a sudden gone. Now, whenever I have a stomach ache, I'll use cannabis, and it works. I find it also works with headaches as well.
