about the best thing you can do, outside of using some spray stuff that I cannot advise on, is to continue building the fallen wood fences.... if a person happens to be walking by, they are less likely to investigate some piled up downed trees than they will be if they see a metal fence or some other man made thing hanging up or whatever....

Most deer are browsers and love to pick at any new shoots that pop up out the ground.
an electric fence is the best bet, so long as your plot is secure, can be rigged up quite easily and is low vis.
or an alt, get some tags and a permite, a 300win mag works wonders, you wont complain when those yummy steaks are sizzlin on the hot plate.

You could buy some barbed wire and close off the area where the plants are growing.

I dont think I could shoot a deer I would feel to bad.
Last time I went to my patch it was right before nightfall and the field was littered with deer. There were at least 4 that I saw dart out of various spots at different times. I think I saw a buck too which I find is typically rare for me.
Seeing how many there were at least explains why I had so may casualties due to DEER kicking up my cups and stepping in my holes.
