    Failsafe Pot-Tea

I don't understand the reason for having the bud+milk in a glass jar inside a pot of boiling water....I'm sure there is a good reason for doing this so maybe somebody can explain why you can't just simply have the bud+milk in the pot directly over the stove? If heat is an issue, couldn't you just heat it a little lower than boiling?

Also....what else could be used instead of milk for those of us that are lactose intolerant? I am usually fine if I drink a little bit of milk, but I'm just a little curious and thought it would be a good question to have answered for others that can't even drink a cup of milk.

Regular soy milk works alright. But its fat content is more similar to 2%. You could drizzle in some vegetable oil (or animal fat, I guess), but it could get pretty nasty pretty quickly. Goat milk has a lower amount of lactose.

has anyone tried to make a cottage or goat cheese like this I beat that would be so amazing with som fruit or somthing. Does any one know how to make these cheeses you heat, strain , and then cool I bet this would be amazing. Even a feta cheese to add to your pizza or pasta, lasaunias. Wow when its legal for me to get medical (if ever) I am gonna try this, since if I screw it up the expence wont be as bad.

That sounds pretty nasty...I'll just use regular milk lol.

I still don't understand the reason for having the milk in a jar placed inside a pot of boiling water, also, I'm sure many people making tea probably have way higher of a tolerance than I do, couldn't I just use the same amount I would typically use for a bowl I would smoke and heat that in the milk to get the same effect? I would assume I would get just as high as long as I heated the bud in the milk long enough right?

The reason I'm trying to be cheap on bud is because I finally got some GDP, (packing in bong for first test after I post this), which everyone says is great for Crohn's, so to me it doesn't make sense to use lower quality bud that doesn't have the same Crohn's fighting abilities...however, this stuff is expensive as hell so I'm sure as hell not going to use a lot, using an 8th would make that cup of tea one expensive (and probably way too powerful for me) drink lol

I would never use more than 100 mg of weed in my drink again. Unless I started using more frequently, like once a week.

You should use between 250 mg (one bowl) and 1 g (a joint).

Please check my thread, it shows you some different options and will give you a better idea of the range of methods.

Oh my God I had to log in again and for a second thought I lost all of this text....i have done that in the past and it pisses me off soooo much....anyway.....

Well I made.....something lol I'm letting it cool down in the fridge and I'll try it tomorrow...this is what I did:

I didn't have a glass jar to put the milk+bud in to have that set in a larger pot of boiling water, so instead I just used a small pot and heated it on low. However, I added some butter thinking more fat=better results....I don't know if that's true or not this is my first time cooking anything with cannabis.

I broke up the bud and put it in the oven for 7 minutes at 325, and had the milk with butter heat up. After the 7 minutes I put the bud into the milk and stirred frequently for about 30 minutes. At the last minute I added some hersheys chocolate milk to give it some flavor, because without it I'm sure it'd be nasty! I might add more tomorrow after it is fully cooled down

Now, I did notice that the bud would float as well as the butter, so I was thinking maybe let it set for a few moments before stirring it again, to perhaps extract more thc and cannaboids since the butter has a lot more fat than the whole milk, I don't know if that made a difference or not though, but I did it anyway. I do wish I had ground up or cut the but into much finer pieces, I thought I did a good job at breaking it up but once I dropped it in the milk I knew I wouldn't be looking forward to swallowing those chunks....I did try to strain it out some afterwords, but I think I should invest in either some good small scizzors, or a grinder if I can get one for not too much (how much are they anyway?)

I also think I see why you have the milk in the glass jar, because I got a pretty nasty looking film around the rim and all on the bottom of the pot when I was done, and when I checked the milk I had put into the freezer to cool down I noticed another film was growing on top. It looks nasty, but I'm hoping it'll be good once i remove the film lol

Do you think I heated it too long? I didn't know how long I should do it, and maybe if I did it shorter at higher temp I wouldn't get any film. I don't know, I'm a noob in the cooking world lol

    Any suggestions, comments??

I would be afraid of getting rid of the film in case it contains mucho fat and THC.

I think you don't need to heat it more than 10 minutes if you prebake the weed, just keep on a low heat and stir frequently. When heating milk a film often develops, just don't have the milk boiling.
