Bed Preparation for Next Year
Hey all,
I hope everyone's grow is on schedule and doing good.... I planted my ladies out a week ago, checked on them yesterday and all but one are doing great with new growth. I didn't know I was going to be doing this last year so my beds had to be prepared in the spring, which turned out ok, but now I'm thinking about next year and I thought I'd run an idea I had by you guys. I'm thinking of digging beds for next year starting soon, amending them with the regular soil additions, then planting alfalfa. My thoughts are that both alfalfa and clover are nitrogen fixing plants so I thought if I let that grow over the summer then dig the plants into the soil in the fall it'll provide some extra natural soil amendments for the spring. Any thoughts? Good idea? Dumb time-wasting idea?SaanenGoats Reviewed by SaanenGoats on . Bed Preparation for Next Year Hey all, I hope everyone's grow is on schedule and doing good.... Goats that is a good idea.
If you actually have goats, why not let them get in there and eat the cover crop at the end of fall, and turn their MANURE into the soil instead?
Nothing like planning ahead- I like to see that!
