I forgot to mention Exercise! This can help. But again, you have to eat.
If you follow your therapist's advice, and it does not help, then I'd suggest that you try someone else. It sounds like you have a serious problem, so it is imperative that you continue therapy.
There are a number of good psychology books regarding depression, anxiety, etc. I'd recommend almost any by Albert Ellis, who started Rational-Emotive therapy. Most cognitive therapy is also good, and Dr. David D. Burns' books, incuding Feeling Good The New Mood Therapy , are also recommended. You can find their books in used or new book stores, and the library.
Again, listen to your therapist - it's the best thing you can do.
