well i add concentrated lemon juice to my water at every watering to lower it's ph,i and others feel it has a sweet lemony citrus flavour to it,i also use molasses during flower, probably why it's sweet as well as lemonish,i've seen many things on this subject, and no one seems to be able to agree on an answer, don't know what gatorade is,but if you wanted to see if your plant does change colour with coloured water, perhaps some food colour rather than a soft drink,i'm assuming it's a soft drink,i'm sure a couple of drops of food colour would be better for the plant than the stuff they add to drinks
oh and not really relevant but i thought i'd mention,if you put a stick of celery in food coloured water the celery does change colour so who knows, may well work for weed

NO!
The molecules that make up aromas and flavors are complex hydrocarbons that cannot be absorbed by plants' roots and incorporated as-is into the plant tissue!
Molasses works because it is SIMPLE sugars that the plant can use for a carbon source, period. The plant will make up its own hydrocarbons based upon the strain... a strain that makes HCs that have lemon aroma will ALWAYS smell like citrus, even if you feed them grape ginger ale (don't do this btw).
Atsar, you get a citrus aroma because it's a citrus strain, not because of the lemon juice.
This comes up all the time and there is a wealth of misinformation and myths about it. Let's not perpetuate them, shall we?
Oh the celery thing... that's because you have bypassed the roots entirely (where ionic exchange occurs) and the coloring is being taken up directly through capillary action into the phloem and xylem, not because the plant is now making a diferent pigment.

thanks stinkyattic,i've asked this question before and got 3 differing answers, one said the lj would flavour it,one said same as you,1 even said that lemon juice was made of things that could be used by cannabis plants,so i was really quite confused and none the wiser, thanks for clarifying

Oh good that is an easy one.
When you cut the stem of celery or carnations (we used white carnations in my elementary school), you bypass the root system entirely, exposing the open ends of the phloem and xylem to the liquid. Capillary action draws it into the plant, causing the color change.
Would this work with a bud? I dunno, maybe.
Would you want to do it? NO!!!!!!! Even though food coloring may be 'safe' to eat (lol remember red dye #5? Yeah... it wasn't as safe as previously thought, huh!?), the products of partially-combusted food coloring are a big unknown, so forget it. Keep those fake purps the F away from me, thx!
