    Pots for sog.....first grow!

Hello all - kind of new here, though I have been lurking for quite a while. I have recently begun my first grow - seeds hit the soil around 4/15. I am growing in a rather small area - 32wide, 24 deep, 65 high. As my plants grew (I only have four) I quickly realized that I am going to run out of side room for the plants, so I have decided to go with a sog. Once I figure out which plant (if any) is female, I will take clones from that and begin my sog grow.

How big of a pot do I need for each plant? I came across these plastic "vases" for only a buck - they are like a foot tall, rectangular shaped, but very slender prob about 4-5 inches across. I figured I could cram a whole bunch of these in there and they would have plenty of room for roots to grow down. If I take clones, then veg them for maybe 1-2 weeks, how much can I expect from each plant? I am using bagseed from some pretty decent herb. I also have a few sweet and sour diesel given to me from a friend.

Anyway, I just realized how long and rambling this question(s) is, so I will end here. Hopefully someone can help me out with how big the pots need to be for sog........thanks in advance for any help!!!!

    Peace!!!

You need approximately 1 gallon of root space for each foot of growth. Diesel is a sativa so it will stretch alot when it flowers so you'll have to give it like 4-7 days to root alittle bit and then flower them. After 2 and a half weeks I would prun most of the lower branches to focus all the energy on the top 30% of the plant. Find some 2 gallon square pots and you'll be alright.

Dawg, with holes drilled in those, they would be IDEAL for vegging a lot of plants in a fairly smal 'footprint' for a short time, BUT there's a couple other things to think about.

-Crowding: The roots may be happy, but too many plants too close together will crowd each other as they compete for light, and you will see more VERTICAL growth than you want, generally not desirable indoors. Also the low leaves and branches will not get good circulation = harbor moisture, pests, mold, yuck.

-Space to grow: A gallon per foot of main stem is standard. A single-cola plant that finishes at 3 feet tall needs to at some point be transplanted into a 3 gallon pot. A trained plant with multiple tops needs more space.

Thanks for the replies! Ok, so I think what I am going to do is take a bunch of clones and once they root use these things to veg for a while in, because my veg area is a little small anyway. I guess I will just have to use the bigger pots once they are ready for flower, gotta keep the girls happy

Thanks again guys, so far your help (I have been reading fora while, just began posting recently) has gotten me well on my way to my first successful harvest
