You should feel lucky Bird Girl, I wanted to go to U of Texas (I was born in San Antonio), but since I now live in Chicago it is so hard to get into. I think the number was that U of T accepted around 1k out of state students, including those from overseas. Only one person in my school of 1k students got in (even when our average ACT is 28). It's such a nice campus.
UT's such a huge place nowadays. Of course, it was big in the late 70s, too. There were about 38,000 people there when I first went in the fall of 1977, but it was a lot easier to get into in those days. Pretty much anyone who wanted to go to UT in those days and had the state minimum SAT/ACTs could get in. That was before they guaranteed acceptance of the state's top 10% or 15% of its high school students, which I guess is why it has enrollment of 50,000 these days. If I had to do it over again, I'd have gone to a smaller university where there was less cut-throat competition and more personal attention. Like Purdue, which is a great school. You going to study engineering?
