you can kiss your civil rights and your paycheck goodbye in the name of socialist totalitarianism, as the dems regulate us into oblivion (for our own good, of course). with a host of their patented do nothing social programs, all at the expense of predominantly middle-class taxpayers, we will be expected to save the world while the rich take their cut from the safety of their ivory towers.

hooray, we've pulled out of iraq. now we can sit back and watch the bloodbath as the possibility of an iraqi democracy fades and it becomes just another islamic theocratic state. what's next? will we sit by idly as iran makes good on its threats to obliterate israel? will we welcome the jihadists with open arms next time they decide to protest our foreign policy by blowing up a few thousand more civilians on american soil? i suppose we could attempt to placate them by providing them with the nuclear technology to turn detroit into a glowing wasteland (would anyone notice?).

of course, the borders wouldn't have to be opened. with 20 million brand new citizens (i'd say that's an extremely conservative estimate) straight out of mexico and any other central or south american country that doesn't feel like dealing with its own poor. this has been a major component of the dem play book for years and with their control of the white house and both houses of congress its pretty much a foregone conclusion that we won't have to become a third world country, we'll bring every third world country on earth here and add them to the rolls here in our brand new welfare state.

I'd say that was a little over the top. I'm not exactly a democrat either. I'm an independent, although that doesn't leave a whole lot of choices. If you like the idea of living in a plutocracy then the repubes are your choice, BTW, isn't it Neo-con Dubya that wants this amnesty, isn't it him and his cronies that have been pushing the cheap labor policies in this nation. Don't try and blame it on the Dems, although their complicity abounds, its the elites that will and are benefitting from all these illegal workers. It seems some conservatives like to make arguments simply by flinging around terms like "socialists" and "liberals" as if they're dirty words in and of themselves. Socialist policiies are not proof of an impending totalitarian regime, or the diminishment of rights. ACTION, is proof of these things, when administrations like the current one actually implement such dictatorial policies.

Meanwhile, I'll continue living in evil socialist Canada where average living standards, personal income, and the rich/poor cap are all in better shape than in the states. Something I attribute to moderate socialism and capitalism rather than extremist attitudes that reject one or the other as the tool of the devil.

by current standards, to be labeled a liberal is one of the worst insults imaginable. the agenda of the liberal elite has become a quest for the ultimate nanny-state and many life-long liberals are now embarrassed to be associated with such totalitarian ideals. the concepts of progressive political reform have been replaced by these ivory tower fools with a headlong rush toward improbable goals through impossible means. this latest crop of liberal leaders seem to see no point in responding to the desires of their constituents. they are merely a slightly hipper version of their reactionary counterparts from across the aisle.

as for socialism. if properly constrained by a truly democratic political system it is merely another name for communism, one of the most equitable forms of economic distribution ever developed. the problem arises when those in control of the means of production (the state) become so corrupt that they no longer represent the best interests of the population. as a citizen of a country where our In the not-too-distant past, and even in the 19th century, an Atheist or non-religious person was more likely to be a Republican than a Democrat. A politician could not survive if they admit to being an Atheist, in either party, and never could.
