need advice on strain versus trichome color

Before I get to my question... first some background:

I have always gotten my weed from one friend of mine, and he gets me Trainwreck shipped to him from California. From what I understand, Trainwreck is a *very* sativa dominant strain. I love it, especially for playing music, but nonetheless I would like to try an indica just to have something to compare too. The problem is, my friend can't get any other strain.

I've heard indicas are less of a "cerebral high" and more of a "body stone". So, I ordered seeds and am growing 3 Northern Lights and 3 Afgahns in my back yard right now. I want to experience this "body stone", so hopefully I'll get one female out of the bunch.

So finally, my question: I've heard that there is another factor involved in determining if a plant gives you a "body stone" or a "cerebral high". It has been said if you harvest when the trichomes are amber you get a body stone and if you harvest when they are clear you get a cerebral high, and you should shoot for when they are cloudy on the average.

If I wait until the trichomes are amber on these indica plants, will that get me more the the "indica" type "body stone" I'm looking to experience? Or should I just harvest when the trichomes are cloudy and just let the strain itself take care of giving me the body stone I'm looking to find?

Well obviously the strain is going to affect the high more than the trichomes so its up to you

the previous response that strain controls the high is correct, but not the end-all final result - the maturity of the trichomes makes a tremendous difference - I have found that identical plants harvested at different maturity, can make a radical difference in potency, and the effects - how long the effects last, as well as how quickly they begin, are also affected by the trichome maturity - in general, indica will be a body-stone, and sativas are a head-high, but you already know that - the trichome maturity can be manipulated to make long-lasting stone, flying highs, even degree of 'creeper' and 'munchie' effects - (I'm still trying to fine-tune a 'no-munchie' strain, it may be a lifelong quest ) - in general, clear trichomes have little THC development - cloudy trichs have the maximum THC content, and amber trichs are degrading into CBD, and produce body-stone couchlock effects - :jointsmile:
