    Is pruning really necessary??

    Hello,ladies And Gents,

I'm A Beginner Hydrponics Dwc Bubbler Grower. My Plants Are Looking Great. They Are Short And Very Stocky...They Look Fine To Me , But I Hear Quite A Few People Saying You Must Prune Your Mj Plants. I Don't Trust Anyone Enough To Show Off My Grow Room....But Heres A Pic Of How They Look After Just 30 Days. So Is It Necessary To Prune????, Or Can I Just Leave Them Alone And Let 'em Grow Big And Bushy????? Thanks, and I Appreciate All The Information You Guys Have Freely Given.....Its truly given me a new hobby

Most people prune for height reasons or to bush the plant out more. When you top the plant or cut off several of it's main growth nodes, the plant grows two in the place of one...therefore produces more budsites. Some strains of MJ prefer to be pruned and will produce more if done so. Others will not. Short answer, if you have the space, no you don't HAVE to prune them.

Can I ask you why you didn't capitalize your user NAME, but you did capitalize EVERY word in your post? LOL :wtf:

You don't HAVE to prune or train but doing so will let you use your available light more efficiently.
A flat, even canopy that is not excessively deep is great for indoors.

Also, some of the lowest branches are never going to amount to anything in the end so I prune about 3 sets of them off about a week before flowering and allow the plant to concentrate it's energy into the bud sites that can better use it. Leaving them is no big deal, just more larf for the hash makings.

Removing the lower branching in concert with flowering cuttings as soon as they have good roots is the Sea of Green type technique. The lowers block air circ and produce fluff like doco said- I also find it expedient to just not grow that part of the plant.
