If the landlord raises hell and evicts you for a hole in the door, then there's at least $1,000 to rehab the apartment and two month's rent lost, so that's another, what, $2,000? So it would cost the owner around $3,000 to evict your ass because of a $100 door - I don't think so! As a rule, landlords aren't that stupid.
