Allright this issue with Mark Emery has been one thats been bothering me quite a bit. His trial was suppose to happen may 30th but is now being postponed. The thing that bothers me is that almost no one i talk to knows anything about whats happening, there barely any media coverage. If he is extradited to the States and sentenced as an american citizen then the rights and freedoms that canadians thought they had that seperated them from american's have been disregarded.

i want to get a general feeling mostly from other canadians about how much they know allready. This forum is pretty baised since most of us have much more knowledge about marijuana activists and legal issues. How many of you also find not many people are aware?

If the media reported more on the topic i think there would be a lot of public support. Canadian sovereignty is extremely important to us we do not want to become the 51st state. This extradition trial will really show how the conservitive government plans to direct the future of canada and so many voters ( all those not envolved with marijuana in anyway) have no clue whats going on.

well, im not canadian but im well aware of marc emerys situation. its a bummer he got busted, but he got busted. I think he knew the risk he was taking. I do applaud him for being that great risk taker he chose to be.

If he is extradited to the states then thats going to be bad news for him. I dont know why they would do that besides the fact he was distributing seeds to consumers in the us maybe? maybe I dont know as much as I would like to on the issue.

Dont forget his friends that are going down with them.. I doubt anyone knows about the couple others.

It took a long time for anyone to respond to this which is a little conserning considering this is a cannabis forum.

The thing is he did take the risk to sell seeds and he did it with out being scared he is quite the activist pushing for legalization. Selling seeds is a weird law in canada it has never been enforenced and there are many local seed banks still opperating without any problems. Its only recently that the conseritive government started cracking down.

But in canada the sentence is nothing its max 10 years. In the United states how ever the sentence is minium 10 years to life for distrubting seeds and Emery hasn't hidden that hes sold over 5 million worth in seeds. If he is extradited to the states he'll mostly likely spend the rest of his life in jail. And since he is a canadian citizen thats insane to me and no one knows!!

yeah its all bass akwards. he should be put to trial in his homeland. then again what are we doing to help dog the bounty hunter? he was just doin his job and mexico still extradited him for trial there.
