nutrient level
if my nutrients are at about 1000ppm and and the water is going down but they are staying at 1000ppm, is this the right level of nutrients. because if the weather is hot and my grow room is hot to they will take water faster which means the ppm will be a slight bit lower. either way is the first sentence wat you are roughly looking to do.

What is the temps of the res {water}?You dont want the room temp to get over 80 degrees.Your plants are not feeding if the ppms are staying the same. When the plants feed or uptake the nutr the ppm's will drop. PEACE

Your starting ppm is only accurate for the time you mix and first use them.
The plant will uptake some nutrients and then in turn deposit back and discard other by-products back into your rez. Thus this changes the PPM reading. You don't know what the mineral mixture is due to this fact.
That is why I and many others say to change your rez every 7-10 day's and that should never be a problem. You can even use less water because of the 7-10 day count. I have grown in systems over the years that used 10 gallons for 40 plants and another 5 gallons added at day 5 to fresh up the mixture. All 15 gallons are mixed at the same time so everything is all the same when the fresh mix is added. That is a total of 15 gallons for 40 plants growing in a sea of green system.
I hope that helps you understand ppm and the plants roll in your numbers you read.
You can use the Ph to increase or decrease the available minerals to the plant to match it's cycle of life. There is a chart in our FAQ section here to show you the different minerals available to the plant at any given Ph in both hydroponics and dirt.

i dont think i put the question right. if the ppm are at 1000 with 40 liters of water and after 5 days the plants have used 20lts of the water and its still at 1000ppm. then is this the right level of nutes. if the ppm dropped would this be under feeding and if it rises would this be a little to strong. or should your ppm always rise a little day to day.

Not the same level you started with due to some the plant used and some they did not use as well as what they put back them self.
So that does not mean that your plants did not use any nutrients but I would check the Ph and make sure it's right. The wrong Ph can make some nutrients unavailable to the plant even though there in your water the Ph keeps the plant from absorbing them at that time.
After 5 days and 40L anywhere from high 800 to high 1100 would be normal for that period. But that does depend on how old they are and what cycle of life they are in too, temperature ect. If the temp is cool they may not drink as much as if the temp was warmer too.
Hope that was some help.
