Nothing but American politics on these boards

Nearly every single thread on these boards concerns America and its relationship with other nations, Iraq and Iran in particular...

But I know that cannabis.com is home to people all over the world, so, other non-Americans, let's try to get some national diversity in the politics' section.

Canadians, if you're reading this, tell me your thoughts on the Conservative government's proposed US-style drug policy (which will never go through due to it being a minority government, but still, they could get re-elected with a majority...)

THANK YOU CF!!! Being from the states we don't really see or hear of the dealings (behind the scenes) of other governments like Canada's or Great Britains. It would really be a pleasure to be able to read something coming from "the horses mouth".

I know even on a google search you really have to look hard to find this type of information......

Seems there are some big on Rep points........I'll pass em' around for articles regarding good and bad from some of our neighbors across our borders.

    Have a good one!:s4:

    Hey c=f,
It's the same old story, conservatives get a little power try to set the country back with their morality/religious based legislation and budgets. Then people realize the conservatives do way too much harm so they vote liberal. Liberals get a longer ride because they are more in line with Canadian values, they start to feel untouchable pull some scams, lie, cheat and steal. People get pissed and vote in the cons again.

    wait, what was the question?...

News from the Netherlands would also be nice.
(I'm hoping to move there some day.)

I hear that...the Netherlands is probably the country with the most personal freedom of anywhere in the world. Canadians, Americans, Brits, etc., we can't be blindly patriotic...we have to acknowledge the Netherlands as the greatest.

I think it's funny how anyone thinks a "war on drugs" will work. Anytime I hear "war on _________" I'm pretty sure it's a failure.

Meh. I tried posting a few topics on British politics a while back. I got totally ignored, that's probably why it's US only.

Just because we don't post, doesn't mean we're not interested.
In most European countries, people are more educated about world politics.
Not so in the US. Our news media and education system doesn't even cover what happens here, let alone what happens outside our borders.
Sadly, most Americans just don't have enough information about British politics to be able to comment intelligently.
1/2 hour a week of BBC news is all most of us can get (if that). Maybe another 1/2 hour of DW, and then it's all commercial news.

Canada has both a monarch and a prime minister...Elizabeth II is the head of state, but she doesn't have any real authority, this resides in our elected prime minister, who is currently Stephen Harper, who has a minority government with the Conservative Party (a minority government means they win the election but they win less than half of the seats, so all the other opposition parties together are stronger than said party in the House of Commons).

Yes, Canada has a very different structure of government than the US does.
