Crime is still super high post Katrina, but it is mostly drug dealers fighting over turf. The New Orleans dealers who evacuated brought back dealers from Texas. Dealers who rode out the storm or came back sooner took over other peoples turf. So basically you have a cluster fuck of illegal activity and all these morons can do is kill each other over it...

The mayor recently blamed it on rap music... that is laughable.

For the most part, everything is up and running same as before.

So in short, they are likely still serving delicious oysters. The media like dragging out turmoil for as long as possible though.
